There is a popular belief that the CPU performance of a dedicated server is always better compared to a virtual server. But that's not always true. This misconception leads to the fact that many users confidently choose the cheapest dedicated server, believing that it will in any case is more performance than a VPS.
Here is a comparison of the performance of a cheap server E-1230v2, which was released by Intel back in early 2012, and a VPS from EuroHoster. The performance comparison will be performed using Geekbench 6 software.

Analyzing benchmarks we can conclude that the performance of a dedicated server is only slightly higher from a regular VPS. But High CPU VPS have more performance than low-cost server. This applies both to single-core benchmark comparisons and for multi-core benchmark.
It should also be noted that despite the fact that the virtual server actually has virtual processor cores, their performance is approximately equal to the physical processor cores of a dedicated server. And it is completely incorrect to compare vCPU and CPU threads on a dedicated server. This fact is reasonable to consider only for VPS from EuroHoster. Other virtual server providers may also have lower performance VPS processor cores. It all depends on the business model of the hosting provider.
